GT7 corner exit: why full throttle does not mean the same speed
Compare speed after the corner, not just when you reach full throttle. Two real gamepad laps show a 0.320-second difference over the same 400-metre section.
· AdminIf you reach full throttle but still lose time on the straight, look back at the corner exit. Throttle input alone does not describe the speed you carried out or the time already lost. Judge the exit at shared positions farther down the track.
A faster section inside a slower lap
We compared A = lap 1 (1:30.358) and B = lap 5 (1:30.839), recorded in ApexTrace on 17 October 2026: Sardegna - Road Track - B, ELANTRA N TC ’24. The driver confirmed gamepad use. The chart is reconstructed from saved telemetry, not an application screenshot.
At 700 m: A 114.8 km/h, B 125.6 km/h.
At 900 m: A 160.7 km/h, B 164.1 km/h.
At 1100 m: A 184.7 km/h, B 184.9 km/h.
Time from 700 to 1100 m: A 9.279 s, B 8.959 s. B gains 0.320 s here despite its slower complete lap. Both show 100% throttle at these three checkpoints, but there are throttle lifts between them.
The speeds nearly converge by 1100 m, yet B has already covered the section sooner. A snapshot of the final speed would hide that difference. This example does not prove that the throttle alone caused the gain: B arrives with more speed, and the preceding braking and line also differ.
Practise one exit at a time
Choose a corner followed by enough road to measure acceleration. Keep car, tyres, assists and conditions fixed. Pick a visible downstream checkpoint and use the same point on every attempt. Include the approach and corner in your comparison so that sacrificing too much time before the exit cannot look like a free gain.
If you use an analogue trigger, practise adding throttle as the car follows the intended exit line, rather than aiming for 100% as early as possible. Change one action at a time. If an attempt runs wide or needs a correction, note it and repeat; do not assume more throttle is always faster or that switching off traction control must help.
Measure the outcome
Compare speed at the checkpoint and elapsed time over the same section. Then check whether the whole approach-to-exit segment improves. A brief speed advantage can disappear; almost equal final speeds can still conceal a time difference. Repeat a promising result under similar conditions before drawing a conclusion.
What these numbers mean
Distances use lap A’s path as a shared spatial reference. B was projected onto it and values interpolated; 700 and 1100 m are editorial checkpoints, not official sector boundaries. The throttle channel is the game-reported input, not engine torque or a direct measurement of grip. We did not establish identical tyre state, assists, traffic or setup.
You can do the exercise in GT7 without additional software. Use ApexTrace to inspect your own speed and input traces when you need more detail. The guide explains recording and comparison; the related braking and consistency articles help repeat the complete sequence rather than chase a single fast exit.
